(April 27, 2010)
Important: After initial install or upgrade, please click PhoneBasics icon to bring it foreground at least once. When asked for permissions, please Save the suggested settings.
We continue to add functionalities and make improvements/enhancements in PhoneBasics. Release 3.0.2 is a major release for the CallFilter feature.
We know there would be more issues, some of them known already. We assure you that we're working on them, as demonstrated by our continuous releases. We're committed to provide you the quality you deserve. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Bugs fixed in 3.0.2:
PB_PR00040 - Beep (and/or other interference) when a call is blocked (some models). Certain newer models have a beep (or other interference) when call is blocked. This 3.0.2 release fixed the issues (verified with most latest BB models)
PB_PR00041 - Filtered log display mis-ordered. Fixed the mis-order issue. Also introduced read(plain) / unread(bold) concept for filtered log.
PB_PR00050 - when addressbook rule is activated, exit/restart app could mess up filter. This is a race-condition issue. Fixed in 3.0.2.
Improvements made in 3.0.2:
Call Filter schedule improvement: The schedule is made more user-friendly. Schedule can also be made by weekday or weekend, as well as everyday.
Configurable Call blocking method: You can specify either to direct a blocked call to voicemail (when available) or simply drop the call.
Alert on call blocking: Friendly and informative alert will pop up to indicate a call is blocked. The alert can be conveniently turned ON or OFF.
Easy access to blocked call log: Blocked call log can be access from Phone menu or PhoneBasics menu. The menu also shows number of newly blocked calls.
Improved Help
Limitations and known issues:
"Direct to Voicemail" blocking method: To support this, you must have a voicemail configured in the first place. This method may not work if your wireless carrier waits for a few ring tones before directing to voicemail. Please test first to see if it works.
Password character restriction: These characters ~@$^_[]{} are not allowed in password (it will still be supported if you have them in existing password. But you won't be able to use them in new password). The reason is that SMS doesn't work well with them, thus using them in password will affect Lost & Find by SMS.
Ring Tone Manager only covers phone calls in this release: We plan in future releases to support ring tone for other sources as well (e.g. incoming SMS, etc)
